4 great Restaurants in Dubai

Dubai is one of the powerful cities growing and changing over night. This also makes it impossible to know all the hip places in town and to visit them all. The variety of type of cuisines, food and restaurants is huge and not to be compared with a lot of cities in the world.

But I have taken a great time during my Dubai trip to ask around and figure out which of the places are a great to definitely not miss out on.

Here they are:

La Baie Lounge

La Baie Lounge is an indoor and outdoor restaurant in the known Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Dubai.

You enter the location from inside, where you can have a sneak-preview into the kitchen. The venue is stylish and modern inside and the outside is cool and relaxing. A perfect mix of two different styles. If you are lucky and are not travelling during one of the super hot days, then get a table outside where you can have a look at the farer beach and over the full Ritz-Carlton garden area.

The outer area reminds a lot of a elegant beach club and in-fact talking with the manager he explained me that they were planning to introduce a new event type, the sunset-sessions. You will find great music vibes while enjoying the beautiful pool flair.

Tip: Going from 4pm – 7pm the sunset sessions offer discounted drinks and menus.

The location is beautiful and if you would ask me I’d introduce a great afternoon fashion party!

Our night started with a special spiced gin-tonic – absolutely recomendable ! For dinner we had a different starters and two main meals. The starters were great! Try the Black Angus Beef Tartare and the smoked Sea Trout. Our seconds was one ‘Catch of the Day’ and the Angus Tenderloin steak. The Steak definitely recomendable, the Fish unfortunately was a little dry. All in all it is good food in a pleasant atmosphere !

Vesna Restaurant

When you enter the restaurant you have a feeling of entering a slightly different world. Upon entering you will see the big open space and open kitchen – how I love open kitchen – the interior is set on a contemporary but elegant design with a slight touch of kitsch. Don’t get me wrong here, the location is beautiful! We had dinner on a Monday night and were surprised that still quite some tables were filled.

During the evening live piano music was playing and a girl was singing some smooth 90ies songs.
The first thing we ordered and tasted was a cocktail. The bar man did tell me to be aware of the cocktail that I chose, because it is not ‘every bodies taste’ – who wants every bodies taste again? So I went for it! A lemon and cinnamon cocktail – I loved it!

The Vesna restaurant was my first Russian restaurant experience, if I wouldn’t have tasted it for myself I would have never believed that I would enjoy it that much!

The Chef came personally to our table to explain us the menu and options we had. I think he thought my friend was the blogger because he did not take his eyes from her while explaining… but hey, I don’t get offended easily so let’s start with the first dish!

Great representation of a soup that was served in an ice bowl and filled up with simple cream. As simple it was, the taste and experience was delicious! From Lobster to some Toretillini-similar first courses up till the fish and meat course, everything was delicious! I am not the biggest fan of heavy cheesy and creamy sauces – but like a wonder I still did enjoy the Russian salad.

Tip: Tuesday is ladies night, 3-course menu and unlimited pre-chosen drinks for 150 AED.

The Little Black Door

The little Black Door is a restaurant I haven’t been planning on going, my friend who lives in Dubai and is a Chef told me, that she really wanted to step by this place as the Chef is a friend of her’s so we did.

When entering the hotel and you don’t know what you are looking for, you will never find this place. All on the right, hidden behind a general wall you can find the little black door, that will lead you to ‘The Little Black Door’.

The interior is a surprise that I did not expect. I felt like I got beamed to NYC in one of the great speakeasies that I though, you can only find there.

The location is obscure and has a touch of underground while showing a fully elegant and luxurious image. The drinks are great and the barkeepers are friendly and helpful.

Tip: Dry the Salmon & Spicy Guacamole!

Thanks for adding the Euro conversion (converting EUR to USD is automatic for me, but AED to USD I have to break out a calculator)! Those look like great options, I hope to make it out to Dubai someday.

  5. These restaurants all look beautiful, great suggestions!
I watched a documentary about Dubai where Andrew Zimmern showed how rich its food culture is and I was really amazed. I’m planning on visiting it when it will be hosting the World Exposition, I still have to wait a long time for that, but I’m already looking forward to it. 🙂

  6. The Little Black Door would be my little space to go I think. I am not much of a person for fancy dinners and the “luxury” feel. I am the girl to keep in simple, however I think Dubai has an amazing culture that one day I hope I can explore.

Dubai is super expensive and therefore I would not really recommend going to the Michelin starred restaurants there. Check out the one in HK instead 😉

Some amazing restaurants there! But I especially loved the first restaurant, it is near the water and when I travel on holidays, I easily imagine myself ordering a cocktail next to the swimming pool or any water facility.

  13. You have a very interesting list! Despite being in Dubai and regularly reporting on the food scene, I’ve only heard of Vesna, Little Black Door and intersect by Lexus. I live here so there are so many more, it’s hard to keep up!

Dubai seems like such an exciting city! I imagine there are many restaurants to choose from so thank you for narrowing it down. I like Russian food, so I would be interested in Vesna. I am sure I would enjoy the creamy salads.
